For a new site, this is completely normal. Google takes time.
First, your site has to be live. If it isn't turned on yet, Google can't see it at all.
Once it's live, Google has to discover your site and add it to its list. This usually takes days to a few weeks. Competitive searches take longer to rank for, sometimes months.
The system tells Google about your site automatically, so you don't have to. That's the page index step happening in the background.
While you wait, a few things help:
- Finish everything in Do This First.
- Get some Google reviews from real customers.
- Make sure your Google listing links to your website.
One tip: searching your exact business name usually works first. Searching something broad like "plumber near me" takes much longer, because you're competing with everyone.
Why this matters
Knowing this is normal saves you from panicking or paying someone for a "fix" you don't need. The site is already doing the technical work. Time and reviews do the rest.
