What do I do if I think someone else got into my account?

Act in this order. It only takes a few minutes.

  1. Change your site editor password. In your site editor, click Account at the bottom of the left menu, then Change Password.
  2. Change your account page password too. It's a separate lock, so change both.
  3. Open Team in the left menu (owner only). Remove anyone you don't recognize, and cancel any pending invite you didn't send.
  4. Tell the support team what you saw. Click Need help? at the top of your site editor. They can check what changed.

If your account has the Google Profile section, its Business Info tab keeps a history of who changed what on your Google listing. That's a good place to look for anything odd.

Most of the time, a strange-looking change turns out to be a teammate's edit, not a break-in. But changing your passwords costs nothing, so start there.

Why this matters

Your account holds your customer list and your website. A few minutes locking it down protects the business you spent years building.
